Features and innovations

Gain the confidence to have everything under control despite constant change in the fashion industry.

In the fashion sector, there are several pitfalls and challenges to overcome in the warehouse. On the one hand, there is the diverse and constantly changing product range due to short life cycles, the seasonal new releases and the peaks, such as at Christmas. On the other hand, there are the different sizes, colors and materials of the goods as well as different handling of hanging and lying goods. This requires a maximum of flexible and dynamic processes in warehousing. The product range in particular presents the logistical processes and procedures in the warehouse with tasks, some of which are always new, that have to be mastered.

We go into the typical processes of our customers from the fashion and textile sector and show what they particularly appreciate about our warehouse management software SuPCIS-L8. There is the returns management, our QA inspection module, the integration possibility of a variety of automation solutions as well as the available interfaces for the connection of a Radio Frequency Identifications technology (RFID).

Managing the workload with the right workflow

The various modules of our warehouse management software SuPCIS-L8 offer a wide range of functions. However, the topics of quality assurance and the processing of returns are particularly noteworthy at this point. In practice, the SuPCIS-L8 QA inspection module supports and facilitates quality inspection with extensive functions and industry-specific configuration options.

Special test steps can be linked on a process basis and placed in the appropriate sequence. In addition, the management of inspection lots and the generation of inspection orders are mapped. The connected ERP system transmits an inspection lot to the SuPCIS-L8 warehouse management system with further information such as the type and number of products to be inspected. The goods concerned are then transported - before they are even available as stock in the Warehouse Management System - to the "Quality Assurance" department, where they are subjected to the respective inspection procedure. Following the inspection, the Warehouse Management System is informed which stocks have been released and can thus be managed and stored as inventory in the warehouse. Another possibility is that the release is integrated in the Warehouse Management System and then a feedback is given to the ERP system or to the Order Management System (OMS).

Smooth returns processing is also required, which is supported by our software. When the return arrives at the warehouse, the returned goods can be easily identified with regard to the item and the underlying delivery item based on the available order and customer data. The quick allocation of the returned goods enables efficient returns processing thanks to the integrated search function. For example, by scanning the package number of the return in combination with the display of product images, the correct item can be identified quickly and without any doubt. Order-related data such as customer name, sender address and order number are stored for each return. The integrity check and usage decision are then carried out. Depending on the result, the goods are then put back into stock, more detailed QA processing is initiated or the stock is corrected. Thanks to synchronization with the ERP system, the credit note process and stock availability are carried out without any loss of time.

For improved user-friendliness(software ergonomics), the processes in returns processing and in the QA modules are supported by image display of the corresponding items and QA inspection tasks.

‍Real-time trackingand increased transparency in the warehouse

In order to track goods along the entire supply chain in real time and to better monitor internal logistics processes, it is worthwhile to connect a Radio Frequency Identification technology(RFID) to our warehouse management software. With RFID single part tracking, inventory is equipped with transponders. Managed parts without RFID identification are marked accordingly in the part number master of the warehouse management system. The attached transponders and the integrated RFID subsystem make it possible for the contents of the individual cartons to be automatically recognized in the goods receiving area when passing through a tunnel with RFID reading equipment. In the event that the correct number of labels is read incorrectly or an incorrect label or part is detected, the carton in question is rejected for rechecking. If there is still an error afterwards, an individual part check is carried out after the carton has been opened. During this process, it is also possible to reprint missing or defective labels via SuPCIS-L8. The principle is also used as a picking control. In order to check whether all individual parts were actually placed in the totes during the picking process, picked totes also travel through the tunnel reading stations. In our software, relabeling can also be documented in the system as a billable service.

Conveyor loop

The integration of automation solutions is also possible in this fast-moving industry. Whether in the area of shuttle warehouses, hanging and lying warehouses or the connection of mobile robots, our warehouse management system offers many available interfaces to connect the various solutions and to optimize the processes in the warehouse in the best possible way.

But especially with automated solutions, it is important to bring the requirements for package restrictions and the maximum system performance of the automation to a common denominator through appropriate planning, for example. After all, no B2B customer wants to receive a T-shirt of one color in different sizes in various cartons, otherwise the effort of sorting would be transferred from the warehouse to the store.
It is just as important to combine the different requirements of B2B and B2C. So that all forms of delivery can be handled from one inventory with processes that are as optimized as possible, but coordinated with each other.

What can you look forward to when you use our software solution? That you always have a complete and transparent overview of all processes and procedures in the warehouse. In this way, you avoid errors, save time and reduce your costs. You will see that previously unused potentials will come to light to increase your efficiency in the warehouse and ultimately the end customer satisfaction.
