Cloud infrastructure and managed services for warehouse IT

Reduced effort, maximum stability and flexibly scalable performance.

When the warehouse is running at full speed, IT must not run out of steam. That's why Element Logic is expanding its Managed Services offering. The company takes over the complete management of the IT infrastructure for intralogistics. Either for the customer's own infrastructure or completely in the cloud. In this case, the IT infrastructure runs via Amazon Web Services (AWS) and is available worldwide. The offering is aimed at companies that want to lower their downtime risks, reduce their IT costs and make operations more predictable. This is achieved with clearly defined service level agreements (SLAs), proactive 24/7 monitoring and sophisticated security measures. Coordinated with AutoStore, supplementary automation and the Element Logic Software Suite, the company guarantees maximum availability and security.

Overview of Managed Services:‍

  • On-premises: The customer provides the IT infrastructure and servers. Element Logic ensures the operation, maintenance and patching of the applications and the servers used - including predictive monitoring and support.
  • Cloud: Element Logic operates the infrastructure and applications end-to-end in a highly available, scalable and secure cloud environment. This includes backups, disaster recovery and license management.

Individual service levels: self-hosting, managed services on-premises or cloud.

Measurably reduce IT costs
Updates, patches and maintenance for operating systems and databases can be planned. Faults are recorded centrally and dealt with proactively. SLAs with up to 99.95% availability and automatic failover mechanisms ensure high operational stability. Security and compliance are firmly anchored - with encryption of stored and transmitted data as well as firewalls, intrusion detection, malware scans and audit logs. Role-based access, multi-factor authentication and continuous monitoring provide additional security for the systems. Operation is GDPR-compliant in the EU regions. The cloud infrastructure can be flexibly adapted to peak loads and growth. Resources can be scaled without the customer having to make any upfront investments.

"Today, our customers are faced with a choice: either they invest permanently in their own expertise and IT infrastructure or they gain back time and costs with managed services. Our approach reduces complexity and operating costs for customers, making warehouse IT predictable and noticeably relieving the burden on teams," says Dr. Robin Seggelmann, Director Managed Services at Element Logic.

‍Studiesshow: 80 percent of IT funds tie up resources
The cloud offering is a direct response to the key challenges facing the logistics sector. IT positions remain vacant in many companies. Managed services provide the necessary expertise - immediately and without the need to hire new staff. High maintenance costs and investments in outdated or unsuitable infrastructure consume up to 80 percent of the IT budget. This is shown by analyses by Gartner and McKinsey and the US Government Accountability Office (GAO), among others. Using the cloud frees up these funds for innovation and growth. Element Logic paves the way for the next stage in the development of warehouse automation.

"Managed services are more than just outsourcing," explains Seggelmann. "They are the logical response to today's IT reality. We make operational security, performance and compliance plannable - so that our customers can concentrate on their core business."

Instead of reactive IT management, companies receive a transparent, expandable service model with calculable costs. This means that IT does not become a bottleneck, but rather a driver of efficient, resilient logistics processes.

"We take responsibility where our customers want to hand it over and ensure smooth IT operations in the background," adds Seggelmann.
