RFID real-time tracking: Small label with big effect - practical example (part 2/2).

The starting point: The combination of our warehouse management software and RFID enables real-time tracking and increased transparency in the warehouse. Answers to questions such as: "Where are the goods?", "What goods have actually arrived?" or "Is anything possibly missing from the inventory?" are thus answered quickly and easily. Do you still remember? In our last article we introduced you to the variant of individual parts identification. This time, we would like to introduce you to another implementation option, namely RFID technology as a variant of container identification.

In the case of container identification using the example of a pharmaceutical company, each tub is fitted with two transponders. This ensures unique identification of the tank by means of the tank ID. The Manufacturing Execution System (MES) knows which item is currently being produced. In this context, the RFID reader in the warehouse is responsible for identifying the tubs and reads out the respective tub ID using radio frequencies. After the individual tubs have been filled with the goods, the tub ID is automatically married to the load unit number. This number remains in all systems until it is actually resolved by scanning at the system.

Regardless of which variant is used, the combination of RFID and our warehouse management system ensures a wide range of synergy effects in both cases - parts or container identification. In addition to faster processes in the warehouse and optimal availability of goods, higher customer satisfaction is achieved at the same time. Information in real time, higher theft protection and potential for increasing sales are also added.

For whom does the application make sense? Regardless of the industry, the application is suitable wherever goods need to be registered quickly and easily and their path tracked, taking into account the technical restrictions.
