Fully automatic packaging reduces the ecological footprint at Lampenwelt.

Our long-standing customer Lampenwelt GmbH is Europe's largest one-stop store for lamps and luminaires and has more than 4 million customers in 18 European countries. "Our company's mission is: We enhance people's well-being. We strive to fulfill our customers' wishes, but at the same time constantly reduce the ecological footprint of our products, their packaging and logistics. That's why we decided to implement a highly efficient and innovative packaging system from Sparck Technologies (formerly Quadient)," says Thomas Rebmann, founder and CEO of Lampenwelt GmbH.

Equipped for growth, but ecologically
The system was put into operation in the company's modern logistics center. It packs, seals and labels the products in record time. This enables Lampenwelt to meet increasing demand quickly and on time, even during peak demand, without reaching its capacity limits.

In practice, it works like this. The orders that are processed via Sparck's fully automatic packaging machine are assigned control attributes. These determine which material flow the order passes through. The information on the qualification attributes such as volume and size of the goods is stored in our SuPCIS-L8 warehouse management software. If an order is suitable for processing via the fully automatic packaging machine, this is automatically stored in our warehouse management software so that the logistics processes can be adapted accordingly.

The customer orders, which are packed using the fully automatic packaging machine, are made available to the operational employees at the machine workstation immediately after they have been picked. The corresponding order data is displayed to the employees via the monitor on the machine. As soon as the goods can enter the fully automatic packaging machine, the process starts by pressing the start button in the Sparck system. The consignment is then weighed. This is also the final quality check.

The fully automatic packaging machine receives the data required for weighing via the SuPCIS-L8 warehouse management software. The shipping label is also requested via SuPCIS-L8. If attributes are missing for an order via the fully automatic packaging machine, it is routed through the integrated goods and material flow process in the warehouse management system and processed via the packing station.

Efficient dispatch handling for sustainable logistics processes
The fully automatic packaging machine ensures a more sustainable overall logistics process. The machine adapts the carton to the item through precise 3D measurement. The packaging is smaller, weighs less, takes up less space during transportation and cardboard consumption is reduced. In addition, the product is optimally protected by the perfectly fitting packaging. Filling material such as bubble wrap can also be dispensed with. By integrating the fully automatic packaging machine and our SuPCIS-L8 warehouse management software into the shipping process, Lampenwelt has a transparent and reliable database for a smooth material flow at all times.
