Hey, I'm Daniel and I'm part of the service team. Born in the 90s, but 18 at heart (laughs). When I'm not diving into the depths of the database or processing tickets, I make my colleagues smile. You have to have a bit of fun, even in everyday working life, and that's definitely part of it here.
In June 2022, I ended up at S&P | Element Logic through a good friend (Nico) who also works here. A change for the better. I like regular working hours and after my last job experience, that was a blessing. We have fixed working hours in the service department, but if something comes up in our private lives, we arrange things. That makes it very flexible again.
Let me rewind for a moment. After graduating from secondary school, I went to a private school to study for a technical college entrance qualification with a focus on sports management. First sport and now logistics? That's right, I originally had a career in sports science in mind. But life sometimes has other plans. The attraction was gone afterwards.
I trained as a forwarding agent. After three years, I moved to a large freight forwarding company on the exhibition grounds. I was responsible for the logistics until Corona turned everything upside down and I was looking for a new environment. Nico, who has known me since I was a teenager, spoke so positively about S&P | Element Logic, it sounded tempting. One phone call with Rémy, our Managing Director, and I took the plunge into the service sector.

I particularly like the variety. Every day brings new tasks, it never gets boring. Every customer is different and uses different software features. I love interacting with customers. Here in Service, everything revolves around customer satisfaction. Providing prompt support and solving problems quickly and efficiently. I sometimes go the extra mile for this. If a customer is happy and thanks me that everything worked so smoothly - I'm happy too.

I delve a little deeper. I'm usually in the office on Tuesdays and Thursdays. That's when our weekly team meetings take place. Otherwise, I work at home. On warm days, I rush to work on my bike and start at around 8 am. My main tasks include ticket processing. I do everything from clearing storage bins to checking databases. IT skills are helpful, but not essential. What is important is an understanding of logistics, patience, communication skills and a willingness to undergo further training. I am not an absolute expert in all areas of our software, but I am willing to learn and do not hesitate to ask my colleagues for advice.
"The home office arrangement is great. It saves me travel time on these days and gives me more free time."
What plays into my hands is my flexibility and stress resistance. Panic is a foreign word for me, even when there's a lot to do. You have to be able to prioritize and accept that some tasks have to be put on hold if another ticket suddenly takes priority.
My other tasks include automating various processes in the ticket system and planning the service and maintenance weeks. Everyone outside of HR, Sales and Marketing is responsible for one of these weeks around once a year. So it's manageable.
But what I find even more important than the exciting tasks is the corporate culture! We have flat hierarchies, a relaxed atmosphere, a "you" culture at eye level and great team spirit. We all pull together to achieve the best. Young talents and experienced colleagues work hand in hand. Age doesn't play a role. If I have a problem, I always find open ears. We don't grumble or complain here, we help each other.
"The company culture is characterized by a sense of community, freedom and the opportunity for personal and professional development."

I feel really comfortable in our stylish offices and am equipped with everything I need for my work. If something is missing, the short official channels are enough. And then there are the joint celebrations. Whether it's spontaneous get-togethers after work, outings or Christmas parties, there's always something to celebrate and lots of laughter. Speaking of laughter: I once decorated my colleague's office workstation with wiggly eyes (gröhl).

"There is no dress code. Everyone comes as they feel comfortable. No matter whether in a suit or jogging bottoms including Adilettes. It's the person and not the outfit that counts here."
Whatfascinates me about logistics and our software? At the touch of a button in the warehouse management software, I can set an automated warehouse in motion at the customer's premises. That's really impressive.
So now you've learned a lot about my job and the company. But there's also a bit about my private life. In my free time, I enjoy three sports: cycling, playing soccer and diving. I no longer play soccer actively, but it's still a passion that I like to share with friends, even if it's more casual now.
I discovered cycling two years ago when we formed a cycling group with a few friends. We go for rides together at the weekend. It's a perfect way to stay fit and enjoy the outdoors now that many of us have stopped playing soccer.

And diving - oh, that's something magical. The weightlessness and the calm underwater fascinate me. The best thing so far? Probably the encounter with turtles, but the splendid colors on the steep walls definitely have their charm too.
In addition to my sporting ambitions, there is another special highlight for me: the founding of our own church service and tent time in Gärtringen. As a member of the leadership team and an active participant, this means a lot to me. It gives me great joy to see people grow in their faith and to support them in the process. I am also involved in a free church in Gärtringen and work at a youth camp every summer.

Oh yes - and then I also have a special gift. I also pay attention to the little things in life. Whether it's the unfortunate moment when someone trips over their own feet, the spoon lands on their T-shirt or someone makes a mistake. I'm always on hand to notice (laughs). My friends often think they can get away with it unnoticed. No, no, I keep a watchful eye, but we always end up laughing together.
Which, by the way, I can do very well with my wife.
